Imam Mohammad Shammas has served as an Imam at the mosque since 2021, and is also the lead teacher in the Madrasah. He has been an Imam since the age of 19 and has served as an Imam in several mosques across the country, including in Derby, Stockton, Kent, Newcastle, Huntingdon and Walsall.Imam Shammas’ formal Islamic education begun at a very young age when he studied for 5 years under the tutelage of Mufti Abdul Karim Jamati Saab. Since then he has attended the Ibn Jabal Institute for Arabic Studies and joined the Sacred Texts Institute with Mawlana Sjaad and Shaykh Shammas in London.
Imam Shamas is continually seeking to broaden his knowledge. He is currently memorising the memorising Qur'ān with Ustad Abd al-Rahman al-Azhari of al-Azhar University (Egypt). In addition, he is currently studying a number of advanced courses in theology, Fiqh and Islamic law.Imam Shammas has taught Arabic, Islamic Studies as well as dawah training courses since 2016. Mash’Allah he is an effective communicator and ensures that his classes are interactive to maximise learning. He has also recently started a podcast on YouTube with a friend and colleague called the Philosufi Experience.If you have any questions about Islam, Imam Shammas is always happy to discuss them with you and offer any guidance that he can.
